Superstar comedian, Jeff Foxworthy, called the show to celebrate our 200th episode. Sharing his own journey as a caregiver, he also voiced his support for fellow caregivers. Furthermore, I felt deeply gratified to publicly thank Jeff for mentoring me as I developed this show.
Jeff took time to poignantly share moments when he discovered his comedy transcended performance. He found his humor served as a mechanism to connect families during difficult experiences.
Giving an inside look into this man’s heart and humor that has brought laughter and joy to so many millions, Jeff reflects on a lifetime of comedy, and offers insights about the value of comedy to hurting hearts.
“When it really dawned on me is, when I would walk into a hospital unannounced, and I would go into a room and see one of my books, or I would see one of my CD’s or one of my DVD’s—and you’re like, ‘Oh wow, this has value in here that I wasn’t even thinking about when I made this. This is allowing someone a respite from whatever their going through …for however long.
People have come up to me and said, “In my dad’s last days, he and I sat there and I read one of your books and we just sat there and laughed.” -Jeff Foxworthy
In this special interview, Jeff shows his heart, faith, and love of others. It’s easy to see why Jeff remains one of the most beloved comedians of all time.
Wrapping it up, we couldn’t resit riffing on a few “YOU MIGHT BE A CAREGIVER IF …”
